One of the most enduring memories of childhood summers is of peering into the rockpools created by the retreating tide, seeking out the creatures marooned in the crevices and hollows of the boulder stream foreshore.

Each item is created by hand using texture moulds made directly on the beach, which is then further worked to add tiny details that suggest the lifeforms that cling to the wave battered rocks and the eroded traces they leave behind.

The vessels in this series are the result of my two-year MA research studies into new materials and forms. The form here is shortly due to be exhibited late April to early June at MAKE South West (formerly Devon Guild of Craftsmen) in Bovey Tracey, Devon (UK) as part of my Member Showcase display, as well as at the Bovey Tracey Craft Festival in early June 2025.
